A two-storeyed\u00a0house, probably originally built ca. 1600, but modified in the\u00a017th century when the floor and roof seem to have been raised\u00a0and stepped gables added. The walls are of rubble with large\u00a0quoins up to within about 3 ft. of the eaves. The smaller\u00a0quoins above this height indicate a break in construction.<br \/>\nThere was originally a doorway in each main front, at 15 ft.\u00a0from the N.E. end. The openings were rebated, with arched\u00a0heads. That on the S.E. front has been blocked and that on the\u00a0N.W. has been converted into a window. The other early\u00a0features are two small windows now blocked lighting the\u00a0stone stair at the S. corner and the jamb of a blocked window\u00a0to the W. of the S.E. doorway. There are moulded eaves\u00a0courses and tall square chimneys which probably date from<br \/>\nthe reconstruction in the 17th century.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/crwydro.co.uk\/deneio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/1484.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-78\" src=\"http:\/\/crwydro.co.uk\/deneio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/1484.jpg\" alt=\"1484\" width=\"418\" height=\"608\" srcset=\"http:\/\/crwydro.co.uk\/deneio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/1484.jpg 418w, http:\/\/crwydro.co.uk\/deneio\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/1484-206x300.jpg 206w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 418px) 100vw, 418px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The internal plan has been much altered by the insertion\u00a0of a modern central stair and partitions, but it is clear that on\u00a0the groud floor the doorways originally led to a cross passage\u00a0with one or two rooms to the N.E. and a hall to the\u00a0S.W. At the hall end there is a wide fireplace with a winding\u00a0stone stair adjacent. The arched doorway to the latter has an\u00a0early clenched door (Plate 59). The ceiling, which seems to<br \/>\nhave been re-set, has chamfered beams with moulded stops\u00a0and joists with shallow mouldings on the soffits. The first floor\u00a0has modern partitions.
