The\u00a0house was extended to the N.E., probably in the 18th century,\u00a0in roughly coursed masonry, and later heightened, the latter\u00a0alteration probably coinciding with the addition of a colonnaded\u00a0verandah and a low-pitched slate roof with overhanging\u00a0eaves in the early 19th century. A wing was also\u00a0added on the N.W. The stucco formerly covering the main\u00a0E. front has been recently removed so that the breaks in\u00a0masonry both vertical and horizontal can easily be detected.\u00a0Over the ground-floor window on the E. front in the reconstructed\u00a0portion of the house is a 19th-century inscription\u00a0&#8216;LL. 1634&#8217;1 which may reproduce an earlier original and\u00a0represent the date of the house.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/crwydro.co.uk\/rhiw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/1725.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-45\" src=\"http:\/\/crwydro.co.uk\/rhiw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/1725.jpg\" alt=\"1725\" width=\"509\" height=\"518\" srcset=\"http:\/\/crwydro.co.uk\/rhiw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/1725.jpg 509w, http:\/\/crwydro.co.uk\/rhiw\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/1725-294x300.jpg 294w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 509px) 100vw, 509px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The interior has been much altered. There is a wide fireplace<br \/>\nat the S.W. gable with a recess for a winding stair. The<br \/>\nstair between the ground floor and the first floor has been<br \/>\ntaken out, but survives between the first and second floors.<br \/>\nThere are several chamfered beams with rounded stops, and<br \/>\nat the first floor some joists with shallow mouldings on the<br \/>\nsoffits have been exposed. Slots in the soffit of a beam to the<br \/>\nfirst-floor ceiling at the S.W. end of the building reveal<br \/>\nthe site of an early partition. The former loft has been<br \/>\nconverted into a second storey proper by raising the eaves as<br \/>\ndescribed.<br \/>\nTo S. of the house and at right-angles is a crogloffi cottage,<br \/>\nprobably 18th-century, with dormered loft.
